Introduction to The eBook Spot

Welcome to The eBook Spot blog. I have created this blog to explore ebooks and digital publishing. I have a couple of reasons behing my interest in this subject. First, I have an online ebook store at KeyBookShop where I am working on the commercial side of ebooks. Second, I work as the technology director for a school district in Colorado and am very curious how ebooks can be used effectively in the education process.

I believe that ebooks provide a wonderful opportunity for individuals to publish their work. I envision teachers publishing materials that they have created for their classroom, providing an opportunity for them to share their expertise as well as possibly create a bit of income. I see local historical societies and clubs publishing wonderful works that may otherwise be lost. Students could use this method to broaden their audience and turn their work into something that is “real” rather than just another assignment.

So, while I have a financial interest in the topic, I also have an interest in how we can use this new and intriguing medium in education and expression. My goal for the blog will be to post sites, ideas, feedback, and challenges that relate to ebooks. I hope you will join me and add you insights along the way.
